Gladys  Kemple
Gladys Kemple, 101, a life long Rush County resident, passed away August 15, 2019 in Greenfield. Gladys was born January 12, 1918 in Rush County to Harry & Mary "Marie" (Zavours) Steele. Gladys was a 1936 graduate of Arlington High School. She married James Kemple on April 13, 1940 and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2012.
Gladys had been a member of the Arlington Christian Church since 1929. She was very active in her church teaching Busy Bees, vacation Bible school, "Jet" cadets and We worship classes. She was also active in the church choir and Christmas programs. Gladys was a volunteer at Rush Memorial Hospital many years. She helped many area children with their 4H projects and had won several Champion & Grand Champion ribbons at local & state level entries for quilting and fashion.
She is survived by her sons, Phillip (Marilyn) Kemple of DBS, FL and Warren (Cheryl) Kemple of New Palestine, grandchildren, Kristina (Jerry) Spangler, Eric (Crystal) Kemple, Kimberly (Derek) Perkins and David (Dianna) Kemple, great grandchildren, Joshua & Jacob Spangler, Kelsey Russo, Kathleen & Elisabeth Perkins and great-great grandchildren, Joshua & Jayla Spangler. In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Steele, a sister, Mary Fancher and a great grandson, Adam Michael Perkins.
Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, August 19, 2019 in Moster Mortuary with Fred Hickman and Gary Holt presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family at the mortuary from 9:30 AM until time of service on Monday. Burial will be in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arlington Christian Church.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Greenbriar, Legacy, Springhurst and Seasons Hospice for the love and care given to Gladys.
