Brenda  Houston
Brenda Houston, 78 a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away on February 7, 2020 at her home. She was born on October 31, 1941 in Manilla, IN to the late Woodrow and Ruth (Snyder) Clawson. She graduated from Manilla High School in 1959, and married her high school sweetheart Nelson Houston on January 5, 1962.
Brenda loved playing Sudoku, spending time with her grandsons and watching them grow. She and Nelson also gained many friendships since their retirement traveling via bus tours to Tunica, MS and other casinos throughout the Midwest. They loved traveling out West and just taking rides in the country.
Brenda worked 43 years in the finance department at General Electric (Wellman Thermal Systems) until her retirement in 2002. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband, Nelson, she is survived by her children, Melynda Turner of Rushville and Patricia "Trish" (Kevin) Rupert of Shelbyville, and 5 grandsons, Andrew (Kristian) Houston, Michael Ryan Turner, Kory Rupert, Kameron Rupert, and Zachary Rupert and many cousins.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Emily Ann Wells and nephew, Gaylen Lee Wells.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 10 AM in Moster Mortuary, with Carrie Jo Miller presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family on Tuesday evening from 4PM - 8PM in the mortuary. Burial will be held in Hurst Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made out to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or The Scleroderma Foundation in memory of Brenda.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Brenda's family. Her grandsons are very nice and polite and know Brenda was a "proud" grandmother! I worked with Brenda many years at Wellman and shared many special lunches for several years. She will be missed by many.
