Steven Howard Sprouse, 67, of Connersville, passed away Saturday evening, Dec. 17, 2016, at Reid Health, Richmond, Indiana.
He was born July 27, 1949, in Richmond, Indiana, one of three children of Howard Steven and Doris White Sprouse. Steven attended Richmond Schools and with his family, he moved to Hagerstown where he graduated from Hagerstown High School.
A sixteen year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Steven served a tour of duty in Vietnam and later became a Correctional Specialist for seven years before serving as Marine Recruiter for five years.
On November 8, 1991, he was married to Isabelle Case of Rushville. Mrs. Sprouse survives.
Active with veterans affairs, Steven served as the Fayette County Veteran Service Officer for a short time and for several years, he was employed as a state veteran's coordinator for Indiana WorkForce One in Indianapolis, retiring due to his health.
Steven was a proud member of the Marine Corps League and the V. F. W. In his leisure, he enjoyed motorcycle riding and working around his home.
Survivors, besides his wife of over 25 years, Isabelle Sprouse, include four children, Steve Sprouse, of Pennsylvania, Christina Loyd, of Monticello, Indiana, Brandy Drew and Wendy Highlander, both of Connersville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Laura Dearing and husband, Dusty, of Hagerstown; an uncle, Mark White, of Ohio; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Earlham Cemetery, Richmond. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016.
