Shirley Sue (Buchanan) Hampton, 69, of Rushville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at her home. She was born on April 25, 1947 in Rushville to the late Robert W. and Lois A. (Newlin) Buchanan.
Shirley is a 1965 graduate of Rushville High School. She married James "Jim" Hampton on July 4, 1996 and he survives. Shirley retired from the Rushville Republican after many years in the inside sales. She enjoyed karaoke, reading, spending time with family and lounging on the couch with her adopted fur baby, Brindi.
Shirley leaves behind her husband, James C. Hampton; son, Michel (Debra) Sweet of Rushville; daughter, Michelle Dice of Rushville; and granddaughter, Kali (Richard) Dice-VanAusdal, 3 children; step-daughter, Tammy (George) Palmer with 4 children; step-son, Tim (Amber) Hampton with 4 children; 3 sisters, Sharon (Rev. Leonard) Dice with 7 sons, Mary "Sis" (Tim) Newman with 1 daughter, Mona (Jeff) Williams with 2 sons; and a brother, Robert W. Buchanan, Jr.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Friends are welcome to visit in the mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 in Moster Mortuary, with Rev. Leonard Dice presiding. She will be laid to rest in East Hill Cemetery.
