Ruby's Story

Ruby A. Poole, 83, of Waldron went to meet her Savior and her eternal home on August 26, 2017 at her residence.
Born October 31, 1933 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Charles "Milt" Clapp and Edith (Miller) Clapp.
She married Daniel Poole on June 15, 1952 and he passed away on August 21, 1985.
Survivors include 3 children- Danny Poole of Sunman, Brenda Wiley of Waldron, Sharon Gaffney (husband Bryan) of Waldron; sister Helen Gilles of Shelbyville, sister-in-law Joan Clapp of Medway, Ohio; 7 grandchildren- Dana Byrd (husband Willie) of Rushville, Sabrina Goolsby (husband Mike) of St. Paul, Tanya Wiley of St. Paul, Alison Fischer (husband Jon) of Waldron, Carrie Poole (husband Randy Berry) of Rushville, Beau Wiley of Shelbyville, and Lindsey Cockerham (husband Nate) of Waldron; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, and brothers Charles, Max, and Jim Clapp.
Mrs. Poole had lived in this area since 1957 and was employed for many years at Cunningham Gardens in Waldron, retiring in 2007. She graduated from Milroy High School in 1952, attended Waldron Baptist Church, and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Ruby loved and cherished spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her Sunday evening suppers for all of her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437
Amos Road, Shelbyville Indiana. Burial was at Van Pelt Cemetery. Pastor Jason Beasley officiated.
Memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice or the Waldron Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
