Our beloved Ruby Jaggers went home to be with the Lord, on Oct. 6, 2016. She passed away peacefully at home at the age of 84.
She was born June 19, 1932, in Connersville and is the daughter of Willie Rose and Maude Steele Rose, both of whom preceded her in death. On Feb. 6, 1948, she married William Kenneth Philpot, of Connersville, who later passed in 1957. She then married her second husband, E.B. "Burk" Jaggers, of Rushville, on Oct. 19, 1968. He preceded her in death in 2003. For many years she resided in Fairland. Ruby had worked at RCA in Indianapolis; as a welder at Chambers in Shelbyville, and as a welder at Ford in Connersville. Together with Mr. Jaggers, they owned and operated Jaggers Oil Gas Station and Car Wash. They also owned B & R CB Sales & Service and fixed up and sold rental properties. She was a member of the Phi Delta Pi Sorority - Tau Chapter, and the Shelby County Happy Hearts Homemaker Club. Ruby loved animals, especially her dogs and cats. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by four daughters, Pamela (Danny) Robinson, of Fairland, Debbie (Ed) Burgdoerfer, of Glenwood, Brenda Moody (companion Paul McDaniel), of Rushville, and Kimberly Lohman (companion Robert Solomon), of Connersville; two sons, William Douglas (Brenda) Philpot, of Harrison, Ohio, and Donald "Ed" (Cindy) Philpot, of Ft. Pierce, Florida; a daughter in law, Debbie Philpot, of Rushville; a grandson she raised, Christopher Douglas Philpot, of Rushville; a sister, Martha McCowan, of Connersville; fifteen grandchildren, Danny (Candi) Robinson II, DeAnna (Tom) Kirby, Danielle (Andrew) Lee, Rachel (Danny) Dattilo, Carrie Simmermon, Daniel (Danielle) Philpot II, Anthony Philpot, Ruby (Larry) Welter, Lisa (Jeff) Ailes, Heather McDaniel, Edward Burgdoerfer Jr., Brittany Philpot ( companion Sharon Poe), Holly (Brandon) Reynolds, Christopher Philpot, and Mitch Lohman; thirty-six great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands; a son, Daniel M. Philpot; four sisters, Flora Alfred, Goldie Baker, Ruth Jones Ellison (Ruby's twin sister), and Amy Bernice Philpot Linville; eight brothers, Carlos, Hiram, Herbert, Nelson, Leslie, Albert, Raymond, and Cash Rose, and an adopted nephew, Andrew McFarland.
Visitation for Ruby was Sunday, Oct. 9, at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville. The service was Monday, Oct. 10 at the funeral home, with Pastor Andrew Lee, of Crossroads Community Church in Shelbyville, officiating. Burial will follow at Everton Cemetery.
