Ronald's Story

Ronald L. Wilson, 71, of Rushville, passed away at his home July 29, 2016, with his family by his side.
A Mass of Remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Jeremy Gries officiating. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2 with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory 1600 S. SR 3 Rushville, IN 46173 Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
He was born June 7, 1945 in Linton to the late Doyle Wilson and Veva (Horn) Freeman. Ron graduated from Bloomington High School in 1963. He was a 1973 graduate from Indiana University Bloomington Law School of Indianapolis. He moved to Rushville in 1979 and began working with Phillip & Patrick Badell and formed Badell & Wilson PC. He married Donna Vonderheide on Oct. 6,1989, and they have been constant companions since their marriage. They worked together at home and at the law office of Badell & Wilson P.C.
In high school and college, he worked several different jobs including a paper route, driving a semi making deliveries in and around Bloomington, helping his mom in sorority houses cooking, serving meals and cleaning up, mowing yards, working in a bowling alley just to mention a few. He worked at Western Electric as an auditor while attending law school in 1969-74, then worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Marion County from 1975-77. Ron was an accounting & law instructor for Ivy Tech from 1977-78. He was also Rush County Prosecuting Attorney, Rush County School Board Attorney and Rushville City Attorney for many years.
Ron loved spending time with his six grandchildren and family. He also enjoyed working on his toy train collection, listening to music, John Deere tractors and working in the yard. He enjoyed helping his brother-in-laws on their farms in the spring until his nephews took over when they were grown. He also would spend time on one of his clients farms in Lebanon spring and fall doing fieldwork. He considered this his vacation. He loved driving John Deere tractors!
His loving family include his wife Donna of Rushville, a daughter, Jennifer Wilson MD of Muncie; a son, Daniel (Renata) Wilson of Louisville, Ky.; two step-sons, David (Shannon) Osborne and Mark Osborne both of Rushville; two step daughters, Jan (Matt) Willhelm of Connersville, Joni Osborne of Rushville; six grandchildren, Ella Wilson, Luke & Jacey Willhelm, Jake Hauk and Landon & Lane Osborne; and one brother, Bill (Janice) Wilson of Bloomington.
His extended family includes Donna's sisters, Sharon (Eugene) Nobbe, Karen (Norm) Kerkhof, Linda (Robert) Nobbe, Mary (Arnold) Hill, Rita (Denny) Corn, and Theresia (Gary) Glover; many nieces, nephews; Pat Badell, Susan Hubbell, Jennifer Wilson and Heather Beyer at Badell & Wilson were also his extended family.
Preceding him in death are his parents, step father, step mother, cousins, step brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made to Premier Hospice, American Cancer Society or St. Mary Catholic Church.
