Robert's Story

Robert H. Wright, 93, of Arlington, Indiana passed away on July 3, 2017. He was born in a log cabin on March 31, 1924 the son of, Harvey and Hazel (Holtsclaw) Wright.
Robert was a 1941 graduate of Solsberry High School. He was drafted in 1943 and served his country in the United States Army during WWII. After WWII was over, he went on to Purdue University to get his Master's Degree in Agriculture. He was a High School Biology and Agriculture teacher at Solsberry, Carthage, and Knightstown High Schools until he retired in 1986. On March 30, 1952, he married Kathryn Mildred Winchester. Together they had three children: Catherine, Robert, and Brenda. Robert loved gardening, woodworking, travel, and spending time with his family. He was a 4-H Club and FFA Leader for 36 years and a Deacon at the East Street Christian Church.
Survivors include: Children- Catherine A. Woodward, Robert L. (Louise) Wright, and Brenda K. (Ed) Padgett; Grandchildren- Christy (Brian) Moline, Courtney Wright, Ethan Wright, and Joshua Padgett; Great Grandchildren- Ava and Morgan Moline. Robert was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, and 5 Brothers and a Sister.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 1:00 pm until the time of the Funeral at 1:30 pm. Rev. David Bonne will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington, Indiana.
