Robert E. Simpson, 83, a life long Rush County resident, passed away Sept. 25, 2016 in Rushville. He was born Apr. 17, 1933 in Glenwood, IN to Clarence & Clara (Hinchman) Simpson. Bob was a 1952 graduate of Orange High School. He married Lossia Bailey in 1973.
A natural salesman, Bob stared his career at Rushville Foods and then sold seafood for 30 years for Booth Fisheries. After retiring, Bob worked part-time for Dugdale Foods and McFarling Foods. He also enjoyed selling office supplies for Huff and Long in Rushville and selling trucking services for Ultimate Express. Bob enjoyed watching birds from his porch, watching his two grandsons playing in the yard and spending time with his family. Bob & Lossie loved traveling to Gatlinburg many times over the years, developing several friendships in the area. He was a member of the Friends of the Great Smokies.
Bob is survived by his wife Lossie of Arlington, daughters, Alisha (Joe) Montgomery of Arlington and Angie (Gary) Hertzer of Waldron, sons, Jeff (Lynn) Simpson of Connersville, Greg (Denise) Simpson of McCordsville and Shawn (Sandy) Simpson of Greenwood, grandsons, Dylan and Logan Montgomery and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by brothers, Noel & Dean and sisters, Jean Mummaw, Mary Matney and Jane Vail.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Bill Worrell presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. Burial will be in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
