Richard Washmuth, 89, of Rushville, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 15, 2017. He was born on September 19, 1928 in Indianapolis to Clyde O. & Gladys (Maddox) Washmuth. Dick attended Warren Central High School until his Junior year when his family moved to Rushville. He was a 1947 graduate of Rushville High School.
He married Alice Jean Amos on August 22, 1948, she preceded him in death on February 6, 1976. Dick then married Mary Jo Wright on June 3, 1977, she preceded him in death on March 14, 2017.
Dick worked for Clark Lumber Company in Rushville many years before opening Washmuth Cabinet Shop in 1960, he had remained influential in the business his entire life. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, was a past member of the Rushville Elk's Lodge #1307 and enjoyed his volunteer work at the Rush County Senior Citizen's Center. Dick enjoyed travel, golf, boating, Pacers basketball and most importantly time with friends and being a proud family man!
He is survived by daughters, Susie (Kelly) McClure of Rushville and Kathy (David) Justice of Greenfield, sons, Tim (Diane) Washmuth of Falmouth & Larry (Nancy) Washmuth of Sarasota, FL, 32 grandchildren and 6 great grandchilren. He was preceded in death by his wives, sons, Scotty Washmuth & John Wright, daughter, Rebecca Wilhoit, infant daughter, Linda Sue Washmuth, grandsons, Kris & Justin Washmuth, a brother, John Washmuth and a granddaughter, Jessy McClure.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. Tony Augsburger will preside.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Community Foundation-Jessy McClure Fund or the Raleigh Christian Church.
