Richard's Story

Richard F. Moster, 83, a life long Rushville resident, passed away at 8:19 AM Thursday, October 5, 2017 in Rush Memorial Hospital. He was born July 22, 1934 in Rushville to Will & Edith (Hoffman) Moster. Dick was a 1952 graduate of Rushville High School and a 1954 graduate of the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis. Dick served from 1954-1956 in the US Army and then obtained his B.S. in 1958 from Ball State University where he was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity. Richard married the love of his life, Sue Wuthrich Curts on August 9, 1958. Sue preceded him in death on March 1, 2015.
Dick had been a licensed funeral director with Moster Mortuary in Rushville since 1958. Serving his families and living in Rush County filled him with pride.
Dick was baptized in 1935 at St. Paul United Methodist Church where he was still an active member and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was active in many Rush County organizations over the years; United Fund, Chamber of Commerce, Rush County Community Foundation, Salvation Army, American Legion Post #150, Rushville Lions Club, Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge, Phoenix Lodge F&AM; #62, Indianapolis Scottish Rite and Blue Key. He was named Rush County Citizen of the year in 1997 and also that year received the Honorary Sagamore of the Wabash Award.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling at Rushville Bowl in the Monday Nite Men's League, traveling, funeral directing, friends and family! He spent many summers in Carp Lake, MI and wintered in several different locations. He had traveled extensively throughout his life of many adventures.
He is survived by his special friend, Evelyn Miller of Rushville, a son, Daniel F. (Susan) Moster of Fort Wayne, daughters, Amy Jean (Karen) Moster of Columbus, IN, Ann C. (Benda Cain) Moster of Glenwood and Ellen E. Moster of Petoskey, MI, brother-in-law, Ret. USMC Lt. Col. John R. (Claudia) Wuthrich of Muncie and grandchildren, Eric & Andrew Scher and Katelyn Johanne & Anna Christine Moster. Dick was preceded in death by brothers, K. Robert, William F. & Lester Moster.
A memorial service will be held at 5 PM Sunday, October 8, 2017 in St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Ice presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the church from 1 PM until time of service on Sunday. Private burial will be held in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
