Naomi Ellen Richardson Ponsler, 89, a lifelong resident of Rush County, passed away on Nov. 5, 2016 in Rushville. Naomi was born in Rush County on Nov. 24, 1926 to the late Will and Jessie (Morris) Richardson.
Naomi was a 1944 graduate of Mays High School. She married Leo F. Ponsler on Feb. 18, 1968 and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1995. Naomi worked as a beauty operator from September 1944 till October 1954. She also worked at the US Army Finance and Accounting Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis from 1965 until August 1987, retiring as a claims clerk. She was a member of the Rushville Church of Christ. Naomi enjoyed her family and step granddaughters immensely.
She is survived by a step-son, James E. Ponsler and wife Sherry of Manilla; step-daughter, Deborah Hawkins and husband Jack of St. Omer; 4 step grandchildren, Melissa Morgan and husband Josh, Ashley Ponsler, Joshua Hawkins and wife Amy, Rachel Zeigler and husband Eric; step great grandsons, Jacob and Joe Hawkins and Kaiden Zeigler; and step great granddaughter, Kenley Renee Morgan; 4 nieces; 1 nephew; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Naomi was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Max Richardson and Paul Norman Richardson; and a nephew, William Norman Richardson.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 from Moster Mortuary, in Rushville. Funeral Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 in the mortuary with Rev. Pete Taylor and Jim Lloyd presiding. Burial will be held in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ben Davis Creek Christian Church or to the donor's favorite charity.
