Marlin O. McDaniel, 79, a life-long Rush County resident, passed away Feb. 21, 2017 in Rushville. He was born Oct. 3, 1937 in Rushville to Omer and Estella (Wilhelm) McDaniel. Marlin was a 1955 graduate of Mays High School. He married Marjorie Hill on June 20, 1959 and she survives.
Marlin ran McDaniel Small Engine Service from 1970-1988. He worked as many years as a mechanic for Roy's Alignment in Rushville, purchasing that business in 1988 and retiring in 1993. He was a long time member of the Rushville Church of Christ and the Rushville Optimist Club.
In addition to his wife, Marjorie, of Rushville, he is survived by a son, Thomas McDaniel of Rushville; a daughter, Cheryl and husband Bill Sons of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jason Phillips, Hollee Sons, Sara (James) Burch and Tara McDaniel; great grandchildren, Caleb, Spencer, Cody, Laine, Allie, Karmin and Jayden; and great-great grandchildren, Chloe, Gunner and Ethan. Marlin was preceded in death by sisters, Theone McDaniel and Bonnie McDonald; and brothers, William and Forest McDaniel.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Pastor John Wall presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from noon until time of service on Sunday. Graveside services will be held at noon on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
