Long time Rushville resident, Lowell E. McMichael, 89, went home to be with Jesus on April 9, 2017.
Lowell was born March 3, 1928 on the family farm near Arlington. He was the son of the late Ora and Frances (Noble) McMichael.
On December 23, 1956, Lowell married Marilyn Miller. Marilyn passed away April 15, 1990. Lowell married Rebecca (Becky) Miller on November 7, 1992 and was with her until her passing on September 9, 2005.
Lowell was a 1946 graduate of Arlington High School. He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953, with the 28th Infantry Division, which included 14 months in Germany.
After working at the Chrysler Corporation in Indianapolis for 8 1/2 years, Lowell began a long successful career with the Indianapolis Star News. He was a Circulation Sales Manager for the Star News for 31 years, from 1962 until his retirement in 1993.
Lowell was a longtime member of the Blue River Wesleyan Church near Arlington. In his later years, he was an active member of Rushville?s First Baptist Church.
Lowell was also an active member of the Rush County Camp of the Gideons International and frequently served as a speaker on their behalf.
Lowell is survived and will be missed by his stepsons: Eric (Vicki) Miller, Jay (Donna) Miller and Jeff Miller; stepdaughters: Debra (Richard) Hunter, Connie Cole and Annie (Don) Bell, several nieces and nephews, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, Lowell was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard, Floyd and Lloyd McMichael, sisters, Berneice Dearinger Kemple and Goldie McMichael Talbert and stepson, Mark Miller.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the physicians, nurses and staff of the St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel, IN for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation and Celebration of Life service for Lowell will be held on Thursday, April 13, at the First Baptist Church, 1405 US 52 West, Rushville, IN. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by the Celebration of Life service beginning at 11:00 AM. Graveside burial will immediately follow the service at Rushville?s East Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Dave Richardson presiding.
