Lewis E. Stiers, 82 of Milroy, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Waldron Health & Rehab Center.
Lewis was born on July 23, 1934, in Decatur County, Indiana to Lewis A Stiers and Lelah (ldlewine). He graduated from Waldron High School in 1953 and married Jeannette (Little) of Milroy on April 12, 1957. He was also called to service in 1957 serving in the US Army Infantry and later in the US Army Reserves. Lewis was a welder at GE and Wellman's Thermal Systems in Shelbyville. He enjoyed working on cars, gardening, apiary and spending time with his children, grand-children and extended family and friends.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeannette (Little) Stiers, son Timothy (Brenda) Stiers and daughter, Catherine of Rock Hill, South Carolina, daughter, Chante (Bobby) Vaughn and daughters Madison and Mallory of Statesville, North Carolina, daughter, Cristi Stiers of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, two brothers, William and Thomas (Barbara) of Rushville, two sisters, Linda (Larry), Sandra (Curt) all of Greensburg, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis A and Lelah and his brothers Charles, Robert and Lester.
Family and friends are invited to call at Moscow Christian Church located at 9098 South River Road, Milroy on Monday, May 15, 2017, between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at 11 a.m. at the church on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Interment will follow at McCarter Cemetery near Milroy.
