Lewis William "Bill" Moore, Jr., ret. SSgt US Army, 70, of Abilene, KS, formerly of Rush County, passed away September 7, 2017 in KS. Bill was born April 25, 1947 in Owen Co., KY to the late Lewis William, Sr. and Jewell C. (Webb) Moore. Bill retired from the US Army where he served in the Vietnam War. He served from 1968-1988 and was in Panama, Europe & SE Asia.
He married Vickie Fonseth on January 3, 2009 and she survives. He was married to Sandra (Campbell) Ingram for many years.
After retiring from the US Army, Bill worked many years as a machinist for Triump Controls and Ryobi. He attended the Shelbyville Community Church and also the New Trails Fellowship Cowboy Church in Abilene.
In addition to his wife, Vickie, of Abilene, he is survived by daughters, Sheila Love & Tammie (James) Cress all of Rushville, sons, James David Moore of Rushville and Dean Edward Moore of TX, sisters, Lois Glover & Patricia (Brian) Cain all of Rushville and half sister, Donna (Kenny) Robbins of Rushville, several grand & great grandchildren survive along with aunts, Prudence Moore Smiley and Faye Webb Beckner both of Rushville. Bill was preceded in death by a son, William A. Moore and half brothers, Kurt & Frank Stevens.
Services will be held at 10 AM Friday, September 15, 2017 in Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor Stan Norman presiding. Friends are welcome to visit on Thursday evening, September 14, from 4-8 PM at the mortuary. Burial with military honors will be held in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
