Larry Lynn Tompkins, 62, a long time Rushville resident, passed away August 15, 2017 in Indianapolis. He was born September 4, 1954 in Lexington, KY to John M. & Rebecca Belle (Bryan) Tompkins. Larry was a 1974 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. He was a US Army veteran. Larry married Deborah Crawford on June 16, 1995. Deborah preceded him in death on June 25, 2013.
Larry was a truck driver for 35 years. He owned Rush County Tire in Rushville for 8 years before retiring. He was a member of the Rushville Eagles where he had served as trustee. He was past president of the Rushville Eagle Riders and was a former member of the Rushville American Legion.
He is survived by his loving companion, Brenda Messer, of Rushville, his brothers, Marshall (Sue) Tompkins of Carthage, Mike (Wanda) Tompkins of Morristown, Mark (Sherry) Tompkins of Rushville, a sister, Sharon (Gary) Evans of Rushville, mother-in-law, Faye Rardin of Williamstown, sister-in-law, Teresa Tompkins of Rushville, sons, Larry Tompkins of Greenfield, John Tompkins of Danville, KY, a step son, Jerry (Megan) Haynes of Lawrenceburg, KY, a daughter, Anna Fay Miller of Danville, KY, a step daughter, Angie (Marty) Turner of Rushville, 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and his loving dog, Harley. In addition to his wife & parents, Larry was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny & Billy, a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth (Albert) Foley and a grandson.
Services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4-8 PM Monday, August 21. Burial will be in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery. The Rush County Veteran's Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rushville Eagle Riders.
