John J. Cummins, 71, of Rushville, passed away on Dec. 26, 2016 in Connersville.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1945 in Laurel, IN to the late Melvin Cummins and Ollie (Tussey) Royce.
John was a 1963 graduate of Laurel High School. John married his loving wife, Janice (Fearno) Cummins on July 25, 1986 and she still survives. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force in Vietnam and also a reserve in the National Guard. In March of 2016, John retired as a driver from Fed Ex after 20 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
John is survived by his loving wife, Janice of Rushville, son, Brian Cummins of Ohio, step-son, Roy Swain of Rushville, daughter, Lisa Lankford of Connersville, step-daughters, Connie (Brad) Eaton of Bethalto, IL, Amy Colley of Alton, IL, Krista Vineyard of Alton, IL, brothers, Samuel Cummins of Florida and Mendel Cummins of Metamora, sisters, Geraldine Worland of Columbus, OH, Wanda Thompson of Morristown, IN, Jane Cummins of Florida, Pam Hunter of Metamora, IN, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Faye Richards.
Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. in First Southern Baptist Church, 1159 S. Airport Road, Rushville, IN, with Pastor Jeff Edwards presiding. Rush County Honor Guard will perform Military Rites at the church. Friends are welcome to visit at the church from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or First Southern Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Moster Mortuary.
