JoAnn Herbert 71, of Milroy, passed away Feb. 7, 2017.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday Feb. 11th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville with Rev. Jeremy Gries officiating. A Rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 4 to 8 PM Friday Feb. 10, 2017 at Todd Funeral Center & Crematory. Burial will be at East Brook Cemetery in Milroy.
She was born July 21, 1945 in Connersville, IN a daughter of the late Jean and Blanche Kelley Merrell. She married Jerry D. Herbert in Milroy, Aug. 24, 1962 and he survives.
JoAnn was Rush County Assessor for 30 years and worked in as deputy assessor several years prior. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rush County Republican Party and Woman's Club and St. Mary Catholic Church. She loved her family and community.
Survivors include her husband Jerry Herbert of Milroy, daughters, Christina (Mrs. Mike) Davenport of Nashville, TN, Sara (Mrs. David) Vincent, Kelley (Mrs. Bruce) Carter; a son, JD (wife Kris Harpring) Herbert all of Rushville; a brother, Charles Merrell of Milroy.
Her grandchildren are Casey (Mrs. Casey) Crabtree, Kelsey Carter, Morgan (Mrs. Jon) Flanary, Cortney Hastings, Brandon Herbert, Jacquelyn Hastings, Mackenzie Herbert, Kari Carter and Makayla Herbert. Two great grandchildren, Christian and Redding also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Keith and one sister Donna Jean Merrell.
