Jeffrey Dean Simpson
Jeffrey Dean Simpson, 57, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, December 1, 2017, at St. Franciscan St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis after fighting a three year battle with cancer.

Jeff was born on March 10, 1960, in Connersville and graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School with the class of 1978. He served his country in the United States Navy where he graduated from the Nuclear School Program in 1981. Jeff was a nuclear engineer on the U.S.S. California and received his honorable discharge in 1984.

Jeff was employed at Cincinnati Playground Equipment, a meat cutter at Hampton's Market in Greenwood, and a personal caregiver for a dear friend for many years. Recently, he worked in the maintenance department at Rush Memorial Hospital.

On December 5, 2007, Jeff married the former Lynn Richardson in the Virgin Islands. Mrs. Simpson survives.

Jeff was a member of First Baptist Church of Rushville and a lifetime member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. Jeff had an artistic nature and enjoyed woodcarving. A competitive snow skier, Jeff was a member of a snow skiing team at Perfect North Slopes, Lawrenceburg and attended the 2003 U.S. National Ski Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Survivors include his wife of ten years, Lynn Simpson; his mother and step-father, DeMaris and Charlie Goddard of Rushville; a son, Lakesyn Noah; five grandchildren, Taylor, Grant, Rylee, Owen, and Landon Hobbs; step-mother, Lossie Simpson of Arlington, Indiana; two step-sons, Mike (Vicki) Hobbs of Louisville, Kentucky and Matt (Sarah) Hobbs of Bryant, Arkansas; two sisters, Angela (Gary) Hertzer of St. Paul, Indiana and Alisha (Joe) Montgomery of Arlington, Indiana; two brothers, Greg (Denise) Simpson of McCordsville, Indiana, Shawn (Sandy) Simpson of Greenwood, Indiana; two nephews; two nieces; an uncle, Harry Honaker of Virginia Beach, Florida; mother-in-law, Jane (Dick) Jones of Cambridge City, Indiana; sister-in-law, Jenny (Doug) Anderson of Cambridge City; brother-in-law, Ryan Richardson of Connersville; Lynn's nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Robert Simpson; grandparents, Clarence and Clara Simpson, Harry and Maxine Honaker, Ardith Honaker; grandmother, Eleanor Briley; an aunt, Clara Brym; and a father-in-law, Dean Richardson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Dr. Dave Richardson and Reverend Shawn Tipton will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017, at the funeral home.
