Janis "Jan" Woolard Singer, 63, Muncie, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3,
2017 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following injuries suffered in a hit and run on Dec. 23, 2016.
Jan was born on Feb. 7, 1953 in Rushville, the daughter of James and Juanita (Harding) Woolard. Jan attended Manilla Elementary and High School, graduating from Rushville Consolidated High School in 1971, and attended Ball State University.
She was previously employed at Crestview Golf Course and the Flamingo Restaurant in Muncie. She was currently employed at La Hacienda Restaurant in Muncie where she worked for twenty-one years as the assistant manager.
Jan enjoyed gardening, bird watching, her cats and collecting owls. She loved her family and friends and being with them as often as possible.
Surviving are her companion of seventeen years, Merl Swoveland; two sisters, Carol Woolard Nickolas and Donna Woolard Webster, both of Manilla; two brothers, Ron Woolard (wife, Sandy), Terre Haute and Jimmie Woolard (wife, Melissa), Gainesville, FL; her step-mother, Lois Woolard, Shelbyville; Merl's son, Andrew Swoveland (wife, Kristy) and their children, Piper and Cole; and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her death were her parents, James and Juanita (Harding) Woolard, two brothers, Rick and Donnie "Moose" Woolard; two brother-in-laws, Jim Nickolas and Mark Webster; and one nephew Jamie Nickolas.
A celebration of Jan's life will be held from 2-6 p.m. on
Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017 at the Manilla Fire Station in Manilla.
