Janet C. Cameron, 90, a longtime New Salem resident, passed away Nov. 6, 2016 in Rushville. She was born April 21, 1926 in Fayette County to the late Otha and Edna (Hannefey) Johnson. Janet married Roscoe Cameron on July 15, 1967 and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1975.
Janet worked at the Rushville Glove Factory, was clerk and supervisor for Danners 5 and dime, 3D and Big Lots many years and also helped as a greeter at Moster Mortuary many years.
She is survived by her nephews, Wayne (Kim) Hokey of Pershing, Larry (Ginny) Johnson and Steve (Pam) Johnson all of Rushville; nieces, Carol (Loren) Beck and Debbie (Gary) Cook all of Greensburg, Brenda Jeffries of Richmond and Karen (David) Hoeing of Rushville; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Johnson; a sister, Mary Evelyn Hokey; and a great niece, Melinda Johnson Dora.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Pastor David Stephens presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 11:30 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Orange Cemetery.
