Jane L. Stumpf, 88, a life time Rushville resident, passed away September 25, 2017 in Rushville. She was born May 26, 1929 in Rushville to Mervin L. & Kathryn (Northam) Alexander. Jane was a 1947 graduate of Rushville High School. She married Charles E. Stumpf on May 22, 1947 and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1994.
Jane did babysitting in her home for nearly 30 years. She was a long time member of Main Street Christian Church in Rushville and member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She was an avid bridge player and all around people-person. She and Charlie summered in both Douglas & Paradise Lake since 1957.
She is survived by her sons, John (Carol) Stumpf of Indianapolis and Thomas J. Stumpf of Rushville, grandchildren, John L. Stumpf II, Jennifer Garofalo and Andrew Stumpf, great granddaughters, Anna & Emma Garofalo, nieces, Angela (Ron) Hackney and Marna (Doug) Clippinger and nephews, George (JoLynn) Alexander III and Judson (Kathy) Alexander. In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. George C. Alexander II.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Monday, October 2, 2017 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor Chip West presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 11 AM until time of service on Monday. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
