Geneva Rowland, 88, of Connersville passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Lincoln Centers, Connersville. A daughter of the late George and Florance Allender Ruf, Geneva was born on November 10, 1927, in Franklin County, Indiana. She attended Brookville High School and on March 1, 1946, she married Wayne Rowland in Connersville.
For sixteen years, she worked in the food service department for the Franklin County School Corporation at Laurel school. She retired in 1993.
A loving mother and grandmother, Geneva cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great_grandchildren. She was a member of the Laurel Church of Christ and the Thursday Afternoon Bridge Club. In her leisure, she enjoyed playing bridge, quilting and tending to her flower garden.
Survivors include a son, Glen D. Rowland of Connersville; daughter, Sandra J. Frye of Everton; grandchildren, Ben (Natalee) Rowland of Lapel, Indiana, Nathan (Katie) Rowland of Glendale, Wisconsin, Jonathan (Christina) Rowland of Connersville, Indiana, Doug (Elizabeth) Frye of Seattle, Washington, Susan (Eric) Mosley of Noblesville, Indiana; seven great grandchildren; sister_in_laws, Dotta Masters and Pat Ruf, both of Laurel; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Teresa and Mike McClure.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Rowland, on November 24, 1973; brothers, Russell "Jerry" Ruf, Howard Ruf, Omar "Bud" Ruf, Harold "Yapper" Ruf, Les Ruf; sisters, Minnie Lee Baker, Nina Wingate and Jean Brockman; a daughter in law, Joyce Rowland; a niece, Nancy Propper and a nephew, Robin Brockman.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Terry Cochran at 11 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2016, in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home where friends may call from 3:00 until 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Laurel North Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Laurel Church of Christ.
