Ethel Rodmaker Elkins, 88, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Dec. 30, 2016 in St. Petersburg. She was born Jan. 13, 1928 in Shelbyville to Daly and Mable (Rumple) Thurston. Ethel married William Rodmaker in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1961. She was married to Earl Elkins and he passed away in 1983.
Ethel is survived by a daughter, Betty (James) Pirretti of Chandler, Arizona; sons, Dale (Pauline) Rodmaker of Georgetown, Daniel Rodmaker of Okeechobee, Fla., and Dave Rodmaker of Conway, S.C.; a sister, Viola Beckett of Rising Sun; grandchildren, Keith Green, Timothy (Alex) Rodmaker, Owen (Erin) Rodmaker and Amy (Timothy) Grainger; and great grandchildren, Eloise, Frances and Carolina Rose Rodmaker and Timothy Grainger. Ethel was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Renemeier; brothers, James and Paul Thurston; and a granddaughter, Melissa Rodmaker.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday. Burial will be in the Carthage Riverside Cemetery.
