Esther Hassler, 97, of Connersville, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016, at Aspen Place in Greensburg, Indiana. She was born April 23, 1919, and is the daughter of Claude Trusler and Stella Jerman Trusler, both of whom have preceded her in death. On July 3, 1943, she married Ernest Philip Hassler, who preceded her in death on November 18, 2001, after 58 years together. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was also part of several organizations, including; Tri Kappa, The Questers, The Coterie Club, DAC, and the Connersville Historical Society. For many years she worked at the Fayette County Library. After retiring, she worked as a partner in the family business - Hassler Auctions. Esther found great enjoyment in collecting and appraising antiques, especially American Glassware. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Larry) Wetherell, of North Augusta, SC; a son, Ronald (Deborah) Hassler, of Rushville; a sister, Elizabeth Murr, of Oxnard, CA; six grandchildren, Anne Drobny, Mark Wetherell, Nancy Rowland, and Brian Hassler; as well as six great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Yale Trusler and Noel Trusler; and two sisters, Jean Cummings and Helen Gerald. Services for Mrs. Hassler will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home in Connersville. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Library.
