Edwin A. Ames, 73, of Rushville passed away unexpectedly at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis on Dec. 30, 2016. He was born on Sept. 19, 1943 in Goodrich, Michigan to Ellis and Nellie Mae (Hale) Ames.
After graduating from Bendle High School in Burton, MI, Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Military Police Officer. He also earned an Associates Degree in Business from Baker Community College.
A retired bricklayer, Ed was a member of both the Michigan and Indiana Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union locals. He was also a supporter of the VFW and NRA.
Ed's selfless spirit will be remembered by all who knew him - he would do anything for a friend and had a big heart. Helping people gave him a sense of genuine joy. He was a devoted grandfather who loved to fish and spend quality time with his family.
Mr. Ames is survived by two daughters, Babette (Mark) Faerber of Alpharetta, GA and Nancy (Mike) Shafer of Independence, KY; two grandsons, Patrick and Sean and a grand horse, Serenity. A host of other family members who loved him dearly also survive as does his ex-wife and best friend, Setsuko Ames, of Easley, SC.
