Donald Lee Thomas, 78 of Rushville, went to be with his Lord May 29, 2017 at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville, IN.
Don was born on July 30, 1938 in Connersville, Indiana to the late Paul and Hazel (Hammond) Thomas. He was a 1958 graduate of Connersville High School. Don married his high school sweetheart, Betty (Geise) Thomas on Oct. 18, 1959 and she survives. They were happily married for 57 years.
Don farmed for 32 years and worked at D & M Manufacturing in Connersville, IN for 30 years. He then drove and worked construction for the Amish Community for 11 years. Don was an avid Cincinnati Reds Baseball fan. Don and Betty were members of the Plum Creek Christian Church for over 25 years.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Thomas of Rushville; daughters, Mona (Scott) Sterwerf of Falmouth, Laura (John) Gasser of Milroy, and Sandy (Randy) Abrams of Rushville. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Abby (Brent) Horton, Tabitha (Luther) Gentry, Aaron (Lisa) Abrams, Jared (Ashley) Sterwerf, Sasha Abrams, J.T. (Constance) Gasser and Benjamin (Kelsey) Gasser; he was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren and is also survived by two cousins.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Naomi Cloyd, Dina Thomas and Carol Thomas.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Moster Mortuary, with Pastor Zack Korff and Pastor John Gasser presiding. Friends are welcome to visit in the mortuary on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made out to Plum Creek Christian Church.
