Cora May Saxon, age 103 and a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 in Carmel, IN. Cora was born in Rush County on July 11, 1914 to the late Delbert and Bertha (Arnold) Eakins, and was a 1932 graduate of Rushville High School.
Cora married Marvin Saxon on December 25, 1936, and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1984. Cora was a Rush County farmer and homemaker. She was a member of Gingham Gals Home Economics Group and loved playing cards, gardening, cooking and enjoyed telling jokes and laughter, never taking herself too seriously. Cora was the oldest member of Little Flatrock Christian Church.
Cora is survived by a daughter: Bertha (Saxon) English of Fishers, IN; three (3) grandchildren: Linda (Saxon) and husband James Thadius Harvey of Westfield, IN; Brent English and wife Joyce (Krenke) of Carmel; Carol (Saxon) Kuhn of Noblesville, IN; four (4) great-grandchildren: Brooke and Justin English; Debbie (Kuhn) and husband Ben Lovett; and Ashley (Kuhn) and husband James Snedegar; and eleven (11) great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Cora was preceded in death by four (4) brothers: Howard, Walter, Russell and Ralph Eakins; three (3) sisters: Alice Custer, Esther Pirtle and infant sister Elizabeth Eakins; Coras son: Delbert Saxon; and a great-grandson: Kevin Scottie Kuhn.
Services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Pastor Patrick Smith will preside. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 11 AM until the time of service Tuesday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Little Flatrock Christian Church.
